Few needs of the human heart are greater than the need to be heard. To have a voice which is acknowledged and respected and understood. The writer’s place in art and in society cannot be underplayed. True writers know how to hold a candle up to the world around them and reflect life back to its generation in ways that penetrate more deeply and profoundly then news items or social media videos.

Through Age of Descent, we aim to tell the story of our youth, the issues they face, knife crime, internet bullying, teenage suicide, issues society has become increasingly immune to. Through Thin, Brittle, Mile we honour our veterans and what they have sacrificed, we honour them simply by telling their story without flinching from their horrors endured.

The Only tells a more conventional fictional narrative, but with storytelling elements which are intentionally dangerous and provocative.

We now look for various other writers who want to contribute their own voices and work. All too often filmmaking and publishing is about what cannot be done. The cost of promoting new writers is too great. There is a commercial and critical safety in clinging to and re-treading what is currently working or has worked countless times before.

But there is brilliance in what is dangerous, and innovative and dares to tell the stories which others may shrink back from. Whether you have a story which speaks of our times. A screenplay or film package that has extraordinary potential, or a novel, true story, poetry, factual or instruction book which deserves its place, then enter now to be a part of The World Writers Showcase and stand with us in our attempts to revolutionise the writer’s journey from page all the way through to the reader or audience and bring your words to the person they were written for.
